Plans

Heeey...

So Christmas is over for 2015 and a new year is almost here! Time flies so fast right? I couldn't even remember all the things that happened this year because every thing just went by in a flash. Well, I guess I'll just take it as a positive thing since we can't let ourselves dwell in the past. Just keep moving on.

Having said that, maybe we should make some plans for the coming 1 to 3 months at least. I talked to some friends few days ago and we were talking about being the 90's kids. Oh the nostalgia that suddenly appeared while we were sharing our experiences during our childhood years. I know I just said that we can't dwell on the past but this past is an exception because it brings joy and happiness just thinking about those days in which your only problem is completing your assignments.

Anyway, as I was saying, our conversation shifted into creating a plan. This plan is bringing little traditions back into the present. I don't want to share it yet because for me it's somehow like a pact between me and my friends. I will however share it if it turned out to be a success so people can try it as well.

What I'm trying to say is that, make plans... no matter how huge it is. If there's a will, there's a way!

New channel, new video

Hello pixies!

It's been a productive Saturday for me. Just this afternoon, I decided to shoot a quick do-it-yourself video for my an arts and crafts youtube channel. I also manage to edit it this evening and I'm happy to say that it's now uploaded!

My other channel (the one I used to put my videos at) will still be active as that's where I'll be uploading videos not related to arts and crafts.

I'll also have another blog associated with my new channel so I can post written steps on it. I prefer that I separate random stuffs from my more subject specific channel. :)

The video above is a simple tutorial on how you can customize your keys bu just using one material: nail polish. Very easy to do and if you already have nail polish at home, then you don't need to spend anything! :)

Harry Potter universe is back!

If you are an avid fan of the Harry Potter series, I'm sure that you've already seen the latest photos for the upcoming movie related to the Potter universe, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This film is scheduled to hit the theaters next year but every Potterheads like me are already talking about this.

When Eddie Redmayne was cast to play the role of Newt Scamander, I already got that feeling that this film will turn out great. Redmayne has an impressive list of roles and had even won several awards including Best Actor in this year's Academy Awards for his role as Stephen Hawking in the movie Theory of Everything. So there's already a high expectation for the movie's outcome.

I love this teaser photo as it's very simple (no beasts or creatures surrounding him) because it focuses mainly on the lead actor/main character first. It definitely grabs attention and brings an excitement to everyone who's been waiting for this film to happen.

Just my personal opinion.

Just a little bit of ranting here ok? (please stay away from this post if you're not fond of rant posts).

Everyone of us has a list of "pet peeves" right? I'm not just the only one who gets easily annoyed by small stuff that our 5 senses can't stay away from.

Let me share one out of too many pet peeves I have...

I seriously SERIOUSLY dislike seeing social media posts about personal prayers. You see, I'm a religious person and this stuff shouldn't really annoy me but HELLO? Why would you put personal prayers online specifically on social media accounts? I just don't get it. Other prayers are ok to share like for example prayer for World peace, good health etc that everyone can pray on their spare time and everyone can relate to. But prayers such as example, thank you for letting me get the job, pass the exam, etc. I don't know. Somehow for me putting prayers has its limitation. Firstly, who will read it? Does God have a social media account? If you want to thank the Lord, you should talk to him directly. there's nothing wrong with being spiritual but you should know how to practice it correctly. This is just my personal opinion, maybe for others this stuff doesn't bother them. Oh well, everyone has a freedom to express their selves so by all means go continue what you're doing. I just want to express what's inside my head now because I have to wait until tomorrow afternoon to rant it directly to a friend -ehem Nanz! I'm pretty sure she has the same opinion on this matter as I 've ranted about this with her before. hahaha.

Okay I'm fine now. I was able to let my annoyance get out a bit so I'm good. :)

Looking Forward

There are two events I'm looking forward to... first is the upcoming trip next next weekend. This is a sort of hunting trip (not ghost, not animals) but more on food! hahaha! Yep, sort of a food trip with friends.

Second is the upcoming concert of One Ok Rock! Woot! woot! I seriously want to see a Jpop/Jrock band perform live and this is a big BIG chance for me. So I'm saving up so that I can afford the ticket! I hope this concert will pave way to other Japanese artist to perform here.

Anyhoo, I still have insomnia so I'll probably have blog posts during this time of the day/night? Whatever. I know you'll get what I mean.

Oh, I decided to make some Halloween hats for dolls which I'll be putting up on my store since it's almost Halloween time! I need to upload new items on my Etsy store and I'm squeezing some time for that despite the "sister duties" and other stuffs. I will definitely see to it that I will get back on drawing because I miss it SO much! Too many things I need to do but this time it's all about me. I'm no longer wasting my time for stuffs that I shouldn't have paid attention too much. I'm still doing my part but that's it.

What else... okay, I always find myself laughing or smiling like an idiot whenever I have this chat conversations with  my friends everyday, everynight. We have this group chat where we talk about our day and then later on our topic will shift to Aldub. If you don't know what Aldub is, you have to search it. It was pretty hilarious how we discuss this, like we are in an Anonymous group. Hahaha but seriously, we are solid Eat Bulaga and the concepts they create are truly brilliant. That's the only local show I am watching aside from the news.

Okay, enough about this random stuffs. I gotta iron some clothes first "sister duties" and then I'll continue what I'm reading which is Kite Runner. Ugh I can't finish that book (ebook to be specific) because I'm scared about the fate of one of the characters of the book even though I already know what will happen hahaha. But I always finish a book so I gotta continue reading it. It's a good book and I recommend you read it.

Dream on fairies!

*If you see spelling mistakes just ignore it, I've been typing like a mad woman because there are just too many things I have to say which I wanted to share. *

Here.

Well... I'm back!

A lot of things happened that I can't even remember everything. But I can say that I will need to take a short break from crocheting because that's what I've been doing for the last couple of months in preparation for the two events.

Oh those two events - were awesome! I'm not going to go on further details but I really enjoyed attending and selling my items. It was quite an experience.

Anyway, I'm trying to go back on track despite some disappointments I felt with recent events. I'm going to focus on my most important priorities because I've neglected them as my attention was focused on things that other people neglected before. This time, I think I deserve to step aside, chill and take a break... have a kitkat LOL.

Errands and a little bit of patience needed!

Hello pixies!

I hope everyone's having a great day/afternoon/night. (FYI: This post are just ramblings of how I spent my day so if this is not your kind of thing to read, you can skip it. No hard feelings haha)

I've been one busy bee today. I woke up at around 8 in the morning which is too early for me because I had a long list of agenda that needs to be done. Oops, I just took a glance on my computer's screen and I didn't realize it's already 12:38 am, so technically I'm telling you the events from yesterday.

Anyway, going back, I've got this list of agenda. Around 9am I need to be at my mom's eye doctor's clinic to get an endorsement form that I can present to Philcare (which is a medical benefits services offered by the company my brother's working with) so that we don't have to pay for her next eye surgery which is today... in just a few hours. Fortunately, I accomplished that. After that my mom asked me to buy something including a takeout lunch which took up half of the time I spent outside. It was sunny so it's really, really hot but I'm not complaining because I would be so pissed off if it rained because the area where the hospital was built was (and still is) prone to flood. So... I'd rather sweat than wade in the flood.

I was home before lunch, which is a good thing because I seriously don't want to miss watching my favorite noontime show Eat Bulaga! I feel like my day won't be complete if I didn't get to watch it. They are not on  during Sundays so that's an exception.

Alright, in the afternoon, I get to relax a bit then my mom informed me that I need to accompany her to the bank so we can settle something. This was by the way not on my list because my brother was supposed to be the one who will accompany her but he called to inform us that he needs to finish something from the office and won't be able to come home earlier than expected. Oh---kay. Just so you know, it rained during our trip to the bank which is no surprise because I think I have "rain" as a twin. Every time I go out, it rains and I just don't know why.

So everything I said has been completed but I'm a little bit tired and drained of energy to move so it shifted my mood from all bright and sun shiny, to a bit "easily irritated" and frustrated. I mean I've been walking and commuting and carrying heavy stuffs all day and I still have things to do (like crochet products to sell and do some house chores like wash the dishes etc.)

Oh, and speaking of wash the dishes, I got a little bit, okay, I got pissed off big time by what tool place this evening. You see, I ordered takeout for dinner again and I, my mom and younger brother ate dinner earlier than my big brother since he's not home from work yet. So we used just a few stuffs that needs to be washed like glasses, utensils etc. So I only washed few things this evening. Then here comes my kuya (we call big brother as kuya here in the Philippines) and he told us that he's not hungry yet since he just ate something before getting home. After an hour or 2 I think, he came down, ate he's share of the takeout and he used a utensil - spoon and fork. So that's the only two pieces of object that needs to cleaned. It will only took a person to clean it less than a minute.

Guess what he did after he ate his dinner? he left the spoon and fork beside the sink. WOW! I can't express how irritated/disappointed I am (I did express my sentiments to my friend Nanz earlier while we are chatting haha) by that simple task that was left to... I don't know... whoever cares to clean those utensils... did he really expect any of us beside him to clean those two valuable items? *sarcasm here*

Well... did I scold him for that? No. Because I can't. He's older than me and I'm just really tired of using what energy I still have left on an argument that will lead to nowhere. I'm really sorry for ranting about this kind of stuff here, I did tried my best in maintaining my blog as bright as possible but I just need to blurt this out. I am thankful to Nanz because you see, we always chat using WeChat every day especially at night and we talked about this incident and it's just comforting to be able to rant about this to someone who will understand where you're coming from. (knowng Nanz if she read this, which I think she will because she's one of the only few who really reads this LOL, will answer me by saying, "you're coming from (insert street name here)." Hahaha.

Yes, so that's my story today. Pretty long huh? I can imagine the reaction of a blog hopper who happens to stumble here and read this. He/She might be thinking, this girl is totally hot-tempered and full of angst and rants in life. Haha. No I'm not. Today just happens to be one of those days in which negative vibes keeps swarming around you. (My positive fairy vibes didn't work yesterday.)

Anyway, I should call it a night. It's already 1:08am and I need to be energized this afternoon as I and Nanz will probably meet up to buy some last minute items in Divisoria, that we can use for our August event.
I hope you are having a wonderful day so far!

Just to end my blog with something light and might put a smile on your face, here's my doll Stardust's most recent picture. :)

My ball-jointed doll Stardust would also like to send you some positive vibes today!

A week of rain, rain and more rain...

Hello pixies! We currently have an awful weather here in the Philippines and so everybody's been trying to stay indoors with the exception of those who still need to go to work. I feel for them because I've been in that position for 5 years when I'm still working in an actual office.

Anyway, the rain's been pouring non-stop (I think I've established that one already) and it's making me lazy! Cold weather is bed weather and it's not a good thing for me at this moment because I need to keep on crocheting. I've been crocheting little amigurumi keychains that I can sell on two upcoming events this August so laziness is a no-no. But this weather just makes me want to curl up on the bed and read my favorite books.

I'm not really sure what the point of this post is but I just want to have a quick."chat" with whoever is reading this. Come to think of it...I'm not even sure if someone will bother to read this. Haha! (what a waste of time huh?)

It's already 11:47 pm here and I need to be up and early tomorrow for Sunday mass so I guess that's it for now. Hopefully I can post something more meaningful on my next update (still depends on my mood though.).

Sprinkling you with positive fairy vibes dust!

What's in my bag?

I've seen several "What's in my bag?" videos on Youtube and I think these type of videos are fun to watch. Do you think you can guess a person's character based from what they put in their bag? I guess in some ways yes. Like for example if a person carries a book, you can assume that the person is a "reader."

You can also consider the place they are headed to by what they bring with them. if the person carries just important stuffs like money, phone, organizer etc... that guy/girl is probably going on lunch meeting, or just the grocery store.

However, we can't still judge someone according to the stuffs they have with them. What we see in the bag is just a small portion of what kind of person we are.

In the video above, I want to show you some of the stuffs I usually carry around with me. I just realized now that I didn't have my phone inside my bag when I filmed this one. I'm a heavy phone user so as soon as I get hpme, I always remove my phone from my bag. Just to let you know. :)

I love Sense8

Note: This post might contain spoilers so please do not proceed on reading this if you hate spoilers.
photo credit to Netflix and Sense8 Facebook page

One of my office mate (from the last company I worked with) recommended a TV series for me to watch which is titled Sense8. This series is created, written and produced by the Wachowskis who also created the hit franchise The Matix (which I also love!).

Anyway, Sense8 is about eight complete strangers living in different parts of the world who find themselves suddenly connected after they witness a violent death (more like a suicide) of a woman named Angelica. This opening scene already peaked my interest as it made me think how these eight people watched the same scenario while they are doing their normal activities on their respective countries.

Another thing that I like here is that, since they are emotionally and mentally connected, they sort of became friends with each others as they feel what each of them feels, may it joy, sadness, anger, lust and etc. They can even draw their strengths from each other. One of my favorite scene here is on episode 12 where Will and Riley, (I ship them!) need to escape from the main antagonist, Whispers who intends to kill them and anybody like them. In this scene, in order for them to escape, they need the abilities of each of the Sensate (that's what they call the 8 main characters).

I love the part were Will need to fight the guards (I think there were 4) blocking his path towards where Riley is being held captive. In order for him to do that, he needs the fighting skills of Sun Bak, who's a kickboxing star. So like being possessed by a ghost, Will manage to fight off these guards with Sun Bak doing the fighting using Will's body. I know it's kind of confusing but seriously this show is really, really GOOD! I just love these kind of science-fiction stories.

There are other scenarios that you'll love here. The characters are great, I also like their individual story lines especially Sun Bak's because she sort of symbolizes power in many aspects. Physically she's very I love the pairings as well, my fave of course is Will and Riley but I also love Nomi and Amanita's relationship. They show genuineness on their love and it's very nice to see how they trust each other. Then there's Lito and Hernando! Oh my gosh, you will love these two. I think they bring out something light about this mysterious show with the help of their own fangirl Daniela. Even though the main plot of this series is leaning towards drama, action with a mix mind-twisting occurrences, these three characters can still brings out some comedic feel in it.

The only thing I don't like about the series is the pacing. It's a bit slow for my taste. Honestly, I can think of a reason why this might be the case on this show. It's probably because it's a bit hard to build up each characters in this kind of genre. I think the production staff thought about how to make this story understandable especially to those viewers who's not particularly attracted in science fiction. In order to do that, they probably think of slowly building up the stories from each characters' point of view before joining them up together by the end of the season.

That's just my opinion and observation. They might have other reasons why that's the pacing they chose to do. Regardless of what others might think, I love this show. Netflix hasn't renewed the show yet as of this writing but I really REALLY hope they do. I still want to see more of these people. It would be nice to see how the characters will grow and if they will finally see each other in person (with exemption of Will and Riley who finally met on the last episode). It will be cool to see all 8 of them together.

Video Diary 2: Threads, Pore Strips (June 2015 week 3 and 4)

Hello pixies! Here's another video compilation of some random stuffs I want to share taken within the 3rd and 4th week of June. I've talked about the large amount of cross-stitch threads I got from my friend's mom (thank you!) and the pore strip remover I bought from one of our local drug store (Watsons) here in Manila.

I recommend these products as you can totally see the icky blackheads and whiteheads removed from the pores of your nose, chin and forehead once you removed the strips. I only have a short video clips compiled as I'm busy with making stuffs to sell on two upcoming events on August.

That's it for now! Sprinkling you with positive fairy dust vibes! :)

Hey It's My Birthday! + Video Diary 1

Yes, it's my birthday today and I just turned 31! Hurray!

I don't know why some people hate getting older. Age is nothing but a number. Every year you gain wisdom and knowledge and that's something to be thankful for!

Anyway, I and my family celebrated my birthday one day earlier because my birthday falls on a Monday. My younger brother has a 9am flight to catch on my actual birthday and a weekday means that most of our family members were either at work or at school. On top of that, my father is also out of the country so it's just me and my mom at home.

Going back from yesterday, we heard the mass at 9am, then had my per-birthday lunch at Hapchan in Harbor Square. It's a simple lunch date with the family. Today however, we woke up early to send my brother off to the airport, head back home to take a nap, then I went out to go to the post to ship an order from last week and bought myself a cake. Yes, I bought myself a cake but that's because my mom told me so and she's the one who paid for it so I'm totally fine with it hahaha. Aside from that, my mom can't travel a lot so I mostly do the shopping and groceries and errands and etc on a typical day.

I would say it was a relaxing birthday for me. I didn't do a lot of household chores today since it's just the two of us here and there's nothing much to do. I'll probably be a busy bee once again this coming days as I need to fix some health-related documents for my mom's eye laser surgery. I don't really like fixing documents as it is not something that I can do smoothly. I just hate paper works but you know... you gotta do what you have to do. I'm fine with online transactions and stuffs but when you have to go to offices, get forms, submit requirements physically... ugh... it's a big effort for me. But yeah, I'll do it because I'm oblige to do it. hahaha. Eventually, I'll accomplish it one way or another.

Here's a short video of how I spent my birthday this year.

Baler Trip 2015

The month of May for me and some of my friends started on a higher note. We started it by celebrating Christine's (Tin) birthday in advance by going on a trip to Baler Aurora. Baler is one of the most visited beach destination in the Philippines. It is an ideal surfing spot for beginners.

Even though this place has a beautiful beach, I didn't swim though. First, because I don't know how to swim (despite my swimming class back in college) and second, I really think that even if I stay in the water near the sea bank, the waves will just easily carry me to the deep part of the ocean.

No regrets though. I enjoyed the view and the cool breeze that the beach has offered. The place is absolutely breath-taking. I'm grateful that Christine had organized this trip and I get to bond with some of our friends.

I'm not going to elaborate further on what happened on this trip as I have no intention of giving a historical background about each place we visited (this one I will probably do on my hubpage account or on future posts here). I'll let your eyes feast on the photos I was able to capture during this adventure. Additionally I'm sharing this video I also made just to give you a quick overview of our Baler experience.

Ball-jointed doll cat ears beanie

This is Stardust. She's my very first ball-jointed doll. I have her for more than 3 years now and I love her so dearly. My girl loves fashion and girly-stuffs that's why I dress her up every once in a while with the outfit idea I had in mind. I love mix and matching and I think she got that habit from me.

One of the things that I love putting on her are hats or beanies. I personally made them and this cat-ears-inspired beanie is my latest creation. I saw a lot of Asian-inspired outfit online and one of the accessories that caught my eye is this type of hat. I.m proud to say that I made this one without following any pattern and I'm glad how it turned out.

For those who own ball-jointed dolls and would love to have the same kind of hat, I'm selling them on my etsy shop. If your color choice is not included on the options, you can shoot me a private message to check the availability of your color choice of yarn.

Until next post!

Looking at Church structures and appreciating the city

Despite living in a city, there are still some wonderful things that you can see that will put a smile on your face. These are living and non-living things that we usually ignore in our busy lives. We need to learn how to stop and appreciate these creations that we often times neglect due to our hectic schedules.

A couple of weeks ago, Rizza, a friend of mine since college brought up the idea of visiting Churches around Manila. She prepared a list containing 14 Churches that we should visit. However, the idea of doing 14 Churches in one day (considering the distances where some of our friends live) would make it impossible for us to complete it, we narrowed it down to 7.

We invited the usual crew to join us. Only 4 of us were able to confirm their presence on the said activity (this includes Nanz, another friend of mine which they -college pals just met a week ago).On the actual day though, only three of us were able to complete our goals because of unexpected circumstances that happened the night before on Rizza's end.

It was a valid excuse and we understood what had happened. I honestly thought of cancelling the mission and just reschedule it on a different day so she can join us. But Rizza told us to go ahead with the plan even without her, so we did. I'm still glad that even though she wasn't with us during the main activity we set, she was able to join us late in the afternoon so we can talk and be in each other's company. It was still a good day. :)
From left to right: Tin, Rizza, Nanz and me

I wouldn't elaborate more on our trip because I did a video to sum it up. This video is just a glimpse of what we were up to last Saturday. You'll notice that in this video I didn't focus much on the Churches itself as I don't want to disturb the ongoing events happening inside it (there are wedding mass, and some Church members were also practicing for their activities this coming week - Holy week).

Here's the a sort of vlog I made:

Insomnia Diaries

Hello pixies!

I just have this urge to update my blog but doesn't even know how to begin. There's just too many things that I want to talk about but I don't want to bore you with stuffs that you can't relate to especially if you just happen to stumble on my blog.  I can't decide whether to blog about it or not. What can I say, that's how my brain works. I always have this hesitation when it comes to what or what not to blog.

I'm not even sure if someone is indeed reading this but I still care about the stuffs I share here whether someone I know or not reads this. Anyway... I'll just go ahead and say whatever I want to say.

To begin with, it's 12:45 a.m. and I'm still up and wide awake. I seriously believe that I have insomnia and my brain functions really well during these hours (12-5 in the morning). I used to work in a call center and guess what I'm doing at 2:30 in the morning? I'm answering emails, checking data from previous days activities, doing reports and if I'm not lucky, handling escalated calls and dealing with faults and issues with systems. Don't you just love to be in my shoes back then? Hahaha
photo by: Jonas Nilsson Lee (https://stocksnap.io)

My being insomniac now might have something to do with it. My body and mind got used to my daily activities during my call center life. Ever since then, this is how I roll. There are some exemptions though but it takes a lot of effort for me to sleep early if needed to. You know what makes me sleepy? Coffee. I know, I know, it wasn't a typical choice of beverage if you want to sleep. Coffee is something people drink to wake up their senses. Not me though. It makes me sleepy. It has that effect on me. Don't ask me because I don't know why (I should probably google this one later).

But you know what, I am trying to lessen my coffee intake so I no longer drink it at night. What I do now is just read myself to sleep and drink tea. I am obsessed with tea right now but I'll explain that on a separate post including a "tea haul." I think I have a 3-months supply of those stashed in a box. :)

I need to cut this post short so you won't get sick and tired of my stories haha.

Friday Night with the Girls

Hello pixies!

Yesterday was quite a day! We watched our friend Frida and her dad, the master impressionist Willie Nepomuceno perform. It was the repeat performance of their successful show last February titled The Votes of the Philippines. It was an absolute success and we (the audience) truly enjoyed the show. I love how spot on the actors are in mimicking the characters they are portraying.

Before the show though, I feel like Nanz (sister from another parents haha) and I were also in a different show. We were like competing for the Amazing Race haha. It was a good experience though. The bright side of this "walkathon" experience is that we were able to discover things like how quiet people commuting via LRT 2 are compared to those from LRT 1 and MRT 2. I swear I was amazed by how silent it is there. Usually you hear a lot of buzz in a crowded area, but this one, I feel like I'm in this post-apocalyptic world. The only talking people there were me and Nanz.

Anyway, the reason why we were traversing the roads of Quiapo and Recto yesterday was because we were looking for the bus that will bring us to Greenhills. Apparently, the bus terminal was already shut down or to be honest, I don't know what really happened. It just wasn't there anymore.

Plan B took place which is to ride LRT 2. I'm glad that Nanz was with me during this adventure because I will look like a lost puppy in this side of town. As usual the train was also crowded but it's tolerable than the usual trains I rode when I'm still commuting for work. Upon arriving at our destination which is V. Mapa station, we rode the super spacious bus enroute to Greenhills (Music Museum).

It seems that luck took pity on us because we didn't encounter a heavy load of traffic and we arrived early. We were able to eat dinner and soon after Tin (my super cute friend) arrived as well. We were able to relax a bit and do a little chitchats including how excited we are to see the performance live. Riz and her brother arrived just in the nick of time and then the show started.

I'm impressed by how good these people are (the performers from the show) because it is very hard to entertain people. They also need to be 'in character" to make sure that people will be wowed by how believable they are as the personality they are portraying. It is a 3-hour show and that's another pressure. Audience tends to get bored easily especially if they don't get what is happening on the stage. I would say that last night's performance have successfully dodge these obstacles.

Congratulations again to the cast and crew of The Votes of the Philippines!!!

Hand-painted Shoes inspired by Adventure Time

Two months ago, my friend Frida and I were talking about how we want to develop our artistic talents. We both have interest in arts which is one of the things we have in common. We never get tired of talking about anything art-related stuffs so there are some ideas that we came up with where we can apply our skills.

One of the things we discussed was about custom-made shoes. I painted a pair of shoes twice before so when Frida brought up this topic, I shared my experience with this kind of hobby to her. If you think that painting shoes is easy, I would say you're wrong. It takes a lot of patience and TIME. Yes. Time. This is because there are moments that you just don't feel like drawing or painting and you should take a break when this moment comes. You wouldn't want to spoil the design of the shoes you're working on.

I encountered an artist block several times on the shoes I just hand-painted that's why it took me a month to finish it. Anyway, going back to the conversation with my friend, we came up with the idea to order a custom made canvass shoes. Since I don't know anyone who can make a shoes that we have in mind, I did a lot of research and found a local shop who accepts custom orders. At first I was hesitant to place an order online especially because we don;t know if it's a legit seller. Fortunately, I found the right one. We placed an order and got it in two weeks' time.

When we got the shoes, we were both ecstatic! This is it! We are taking this hobby seriously. Each of us have 3 pairs of shoes and we didn't even know what to paint. I have an idea already but I don't know how to execute it yet. So when I finally have the time to start painting I decided to start with something that I like. This is the animation series Adventure Time. I chose this so that in case someone doesn't want it, then I could at least wear it.
I'm happy on how this one turned up. I use acrylic paints for this which I already have. My only tip for those who want to paint shoes is to buy a large size of white and black acrylic paint. You will be consuming these two colors a lot.

Aside from acrylic paints, you'll also need a clear varnish (spray) as your top coating. There's no coating on the shoes shown above yet because I want to wait at least a day for the acrylic paint to settle on the canvass. But that is just me. You can apply the varnish as long as the acrylic is already dry.

This shoes is now up for sale on my etsy store. This is the very first hand-painted shoes I put up on the store so hopefully someone will like and buy it.

How useful is a Selfie Stick?

If you are someone who loves to take a a snapshot of yourself on your own, then you must have heard of this "self-help" tool called selfie stick. For those of us who are actively using various social media sites, you probably saw a lot of people using this. The first time I saw this tool I was thinking, what is this long metal stick doing in front of their picture (that's because the metal stick is visible on the photograph)? Little did I know that it is a type of monopod that you can use to attach your camera or phone.

At first I am an anti-selfie stick person. I swear! My brain is telling me that I don't have use for it, that I could just ask someone to have my picture taken with my friends. I guess it's been more than a year before I decided to buy one for myself. In fact I just bought mine early this year.

There's a reason why I yielded in my stance against not buying one. This happened late December 2014. In my past blogs, I mentioned that I and some friends have a wedding to attend and we're not just guests here. We are the wedding coordinators. Since we are working on the actual day of the wedding, we wouldn't have time to take decent photos of ourselves. If we need to take a photo, we need to do it quick and on a limited space (because you know, our arms are not extensible and can only capture whatever the lens can fit inside the frame). Imagine how blurred those photos are! Not only do we have little seconds to do that, but we also have to do it on our own.

So because of this, I decided it's time to take action! hahaha! I searched for a cheap one (that's me, looking for the cheapest stuff I could find, not too cheap though because you don't want a low quality one.) I didn't even bought the one that includes a bluetooth  because I told myself that I can just use the built-in timer from the phone. See? That's how this little mind of mine works...(later on though I realize why people buy the one with bluetooth, more on that later.)

Did I have any regrets in buying it? None, although I should have bought bluetooth controls as well. By the time we started using this monopod, I noticed how heavy it can get especially when you set your camera's timer into 10 secs! How stupid can I get? Hahaha. Still, my selfie or our group pictures can now be seen with proper background and not just our faces! That's the main objective.

There are lots of advantages when you use a selfie sticks. One obvious reason is that, you no longer need to bother people specifically strangers to take a break from whatever they are doing for them to take your picture.

Another advantage, you can now show off your outfit by trying the top view shot using your selfie tool!  And since, you're already using it for your outfit, show why not show where you are by capturing the beautiful landscape behind you. Just make sure you are not hitting someone else with that selfie stick.

Always remember though that there are limitations when it comes to using it. There are some places that prohibits you from using it so just follow their rules or guidelines. If you are visiting an art gallery or museum, I suggest that you don't use it (whether they have rules against it or not) because you might damage those amazing artworks and vintage items.

Just be practical. If you need it, then buy it, if not, then you don't have to. If you are planning to buy though, do not take excessive selfies. Make sure you also exercise proper etiquette when doing so.

In the hunt for Waterproof Cases for iPhone and DSLR

A few days ago, one of my friends, Tin, sent me and our other friends a private message inviting us to join her on a planned out of town celebration for her birthday. Since it's her birthday and I want to experience being outside of the capital I agreed (plus the fact that it's all expense paid by our wonderful friend). When she suggested that we go to Baler, which is known as one of the "top surf spots" in the Philippines (although I don't know how to surf), I immediately searched it via Google to have an idea what the place has in store for travelers.

The first thing I saw was the Ditumabo Falls, also known as Mother Falls, because it's the most majestic falls around the area. Obviously, if you are to visit such beautiful place, you must capture its beauty in a photo or much better in a video. My solution to avoid damaging my gadgets is to look for waterproof cases similar to  one I found from a Japanese company called Sanwa.
I'm in the hunt for the cheapest one I could find as I have a tight budget especially for things that I would rarely use in the future. I've seen a waterfalls before during one of our field trip in high school but this time around it will be different as I intend to document this shared experience with friends in a video. Rizza, who is the go-to person in our peer group when it comes to travel mentioned that she had read a blog regarding someone who unfortunately didn't think of protecting their gadget during their trip. I don't want Snow (my phone) and Caspian (my DSLR) to have the same fate as that person's gadgets.

Speaking of DSLR... I am thinking of making an improvised waterproof case instead of buying. How do I do that? I don't know yet but I'll post it here once I figured out how to make one. I promise! Researching is my number one agenda for sure as soon as I'm done with the things I'm currently doing. I'm trying to be thrifty these days so I'm being careful on where or what I spend my money for.

If you have an idea how to improvised waterproof cases, please do leave a comment below. I'll appreciate your help.

Zoo Trip with friends and hanging out at Harbor Square

Hello pixies!

Last Saturday, I and some of my college friends met up so we can fulfill one of our friend's (Tin) long time dream to visit Manila Zoo. Since I live nearby, visiting the zoo is no longer new to me however sharing this experience with my college pals is another thing.
We are actually a peer group of 9 but this meet is actually a half-meeting (for some part-time gig), half-exploring kind of thing, we decided to just stick with the usual crew...meaning the 4 of us.

It was a hot, sunny afternoon but we never complained about the heat because we have each others company to block that thought. We enjoyed looking at the remaining animals from the zoo and took some photos and short videos.

Above are some of the photos I manage to take using my iphone. I didn't bring my camera with me because I want to carry lightweight items as much as possible in my semi-medium size shoulder bag. Sorry Caspian, no enough space in my bag...

We also have a short break during the whole duration of our exploration so we can hydrate ourselves.

Check out this video I made to sum up the Zoo trip.

Tin's dream is now fulfilled... just look how happy she is here:
Happy Tin :)
After our trip, we walked from the zoo to the place called Harbor Square beside the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). We waited for the sunset and the sun didn't disappoint us. I was there the day before this trip so I'm still high with the "sunset feel good moment" and this time I want to share it with the gang as well.
The view is so breath-taking and it instantly captivated my heart. It signifies another beautiful day spent with lovely people.

Angels' adventure will continue.Watch out for more trips as we are already brewing some out of town trips this coming May.

Youtube

Hello Pixies!

I just want to say that my Youtube channel finally have some activities going on. I'm gonna try putting up some videos there as often as possible because I just need to have another output for my creativity. Videos that will be posted there will mostly revolve around artworks, crafts, D-I-Y projects and probably some about my dolls or the hobby of doll collecting. I might throw in some vlogs if I'm in the mood to do so. Although my day to day activities are boring and I'm not quite sure if I should share it haha. I'll probably end up shooting some snippets of my daily routine or whatever I am scheduled to do on a particular day.

Anyway, it's 4 in the morning and I need to sleep. I intended to sleep earlier that 4 honestly but the video takes forever to upload in my channel. Here is the one I just uploaded.

Seriously, I gotta hit the sheets now. I'll post a much longer post on my next update.

Swish and flick!
